Culinary Work Experience

The Culinary Transitional Work Experience program provides students and current clients of The Lord's Place experiencing homelessness with the foundational skills needed to secure an entry-level position in any commercial kitchen.
The program has two separate tracks: one is 12 weeks, and the other is 24 weeks, called Parks 2 Work. Each track provides students with an opportunity to learn a variety of skills in the field of culinary arts while focusing on behavior modification curriculum and activities to address their decision-making abilities, which may affect job performance and retention. The program uses a hands-on approach, coupled with a series of performance assessments.
The Culinary Transitional Work Experience program is located at The Lord's Place Fortin Family Campus in a professional and state-of-the-art kitchen. It provides fresh, delicious food for Cafe Joshua and the meal mobile.
Students who complete this training program will receive their three-year food handler certificate (SERV– SAFE), as well as a culinary training certificate at their graduation ceremony.
Road to Independence

Mr. Graham came to The Lord’s Place searching for a way forward. It is there he met Mr. Banks, his Employment Specialist. He found not only job training, but someone who believed in him. With support, guidance, and hands-on experience in the six-month Culinary Work Experience Program, he gained the skills, cognitive behavioral training, and the confidence to start again.
Today, Mr. Graham is employed at a respected restaurant in Delray Beach, where his hard work is already being recognized and celebrated. This transformation gave Mr. Graham hope, dignity, and the chance for a new beginning.
