Frequently Asked Questions
Overall Event
What is the purpose of The March to End Homelessness?
- To raise awareness, increase education, and raise funds for those who are experiencing homelessness in Palm Beach County
Do I have to pay to participate?
- No, this event is FREE to the public, but we encourage donations. The Lord’s Place's goal is to raise $350,000 to break the cycle of homelessness for men, women, and children. The Honorable Ann Brown will match these donations in honor of Cathy Brown, so your donation will be doubled! We encourage sponsorship, team fundraising, and individual contributions - combined, these make a significant impact.
How can I help if I can’t attend?
- Please consider donating or asking friends to support us to meet our goal of $350,000 by clicking here.
What should I bring or wear?
- March to End Homelessness Shirts will be available to Marchers and to Sponsors. We will likely have extra that will be distributed to additional attendees. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes, sneakers, and The Lord’s Place brand colors – blue and green. We also encourage you to bring your own refillable water bottle, sunscreen, hats, a poncho for inclement weather, and a lawn chair if you are only attending the program.
Is this event political?
- As a non-religious agency, The Lord’s Place is also not politically affiliated. As a secular human services agency, we believe housing is a basic human right and that fostering collaborative community partnerships, along with support from companies and individuals, is essential to helping those in need.
Who is invited? Can my dog come?
- Everyone is invited, even your well-behaved, leashed furry friend. We encourage the entire community to join us – businesses, schools, community groups, churches, synagogues, families and children. For March participants, please consider walking ability and distances as this March is outside and on city sidewalks. Everyone is a part of the solution to end homelessness in our community.
Rain or Shine?
- Yes, those experiencing homelessness endure all types of weather, and we have a plan in place for rain. The March will proceed rain or shine on city streets, so bring a poncho or raincoat if the forecast is uncertain. While the celebration is planned to be outdoors, we have a backup plan for inclement weather, which will be shared here if needed.
Will there be food?
- Yes, water and light snacks will be provided with the compliments of The Lord's Place Meal Mobile, both along the March route as well as on-site.
Where can I park and how?
- Parking is available along city streets and in nearby parking garages. Most is paid parking, and all options can be found here. Handicap parking is located along city streets. We will have a first aid kit as well as a rest stop with snacks and water.
