Director of Employment Services – F/T June 20, 2024

We are seeking a Director of Employment Services to lead our Employment Services team.  The Director of Employment Services oversees all Job Training and Placement Programs, ensuring guests and visitors are receiving the appropriate services that will help them increase employability skills and obtain employment. The hours are generally from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. Additionally, hours may vary, including evenings and weekends.

Some responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate and supervise the Employment Services Team, including but not limited to: the Job Readiness Instructors, Employment Services, Employment Coordinator, Volunteer Tutors and Job Readiness Volunteers.
  • Collaborate with the Employment Coordinator to develop and maintain a current catalog of open and potential job opportunities.
  • Research, develop, and present curriculum to support agency-wide job training and placement programs.
  • Oversee and monitor program budget and culinary transitional work experience time sheets.
  • Build rapport with local employers by understanding specific hiring needs and providing program education that could result in training and employment partnerships.
  • Educate the local community of the benefits of hiring The Lord’s Place clients through presentations and participation at community meetings such as Chambers of Commerce, business development boards, etc.
  • Oversee workshops for clients regarding various jobs and training opportunities in the community.
  • Oversee individual assessment to determine guest and visitor appropriateness of Job training and Placement Programs.
  • Assure that all agency and funder data and client files are maintained and accurate regarding state and local contracts as well as agency-specific requirements.
  • Provide oversight and strategies to monitor and ensure that program deliverables and outcomes are met.
  • Assist in job training and placement grant reporting as needed and required.
  • Consistently assess the strengths and weaknesses in all programs and develop appropriate and timely changes.
  • Work closely with the Employment Coordinator to bring employment opportunities including job fairs and business tours connecting client skills with employer needs.
  • Oversee all teaching and educational components of formal employment instruction and transitional work programs.
  • Create, update, and assist in the implementation of curricula, for job training and transitional work experience programs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Vice President of Community Programs.

  • Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred
  • Supervisory experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills, including a working knowledge of Office 2016 or higher required.
  • Requires ability to operate business equipment used daily within the organization.
  • May require safely lifting up to 15 lbs.
  • Maintain a valid Florida State driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and eligibility for coverage under any applicable company insurance
