In February of 2019, Annie began her journey with The Lord’s Place. Alone for the first time in her life, and with intellectual difficulties, Annie had a hard time caring for herself. She worked with The Lord’s Place SOAR specialists and was approved for Social Security Benefits. Wanting to build a future, she worked often with The Lord’s Place’s private tutor with the goal of earning her GED.
Annie moved into The Lord’s Place Burckle Place in October 2019 and expressed a desire to begin working. She completed the Job Ready Program in April, just before COVID put a pause of her opportunities to work. Last month, however, Annie was accepted into the Retail Transitional Work Experience Program in one of the Joshua Thrift Stores. She hopes to grow her skill-set, and acquire a position working in retail in the future. Until then, she is happy to be working, learning, and growing!
